Yet again, our collaboration with NGOs led to the detection and seizure of another huge smuggle arecanut consignment at the outskirt of Darlak Village, Mamit District, on 21.2.2023. One vehicle driven by Lalsangpuia (24) s/o Chinzapaua of New Champhai, carrying 70 bags (65kgs/bag) of dry arecanuts value ₹ 11,37,500/- was detained by members of the NGO and they immediately informed #MamitPS to take legal action. These dry arecanuts were seized from joint possession of Lalrinawmi(42) w/o Vanlalhmingthanmawia of New Champhai, and Lalparmawii(40) d/o Dengkima of New Champhai. The transportation of dry arecanut was in violation of the Prohibitory order u/s 144 CrPC, 1973 issued by the District Magistrate, Mamit. An FIR u/s 188 IPC was registered and all three arrested. Kudos to #YMAMamit for lawful intervention.
