Our 24×7 relentless drive against drug smuggling continues. On the night of 29.9.2022, Champhai Police on duty at Chalbawiha Junction Khankawn Police Check gate recovered and seized 6880 litres (43 plastic containers) of suspected liquid Acetone from two trucks, driven by Lalrintluanga (37) s/o Rokima of Edenthar, Aizawl and Laldikthanga (43) s/o Ngullianhranga of Zokhawthar. The suspected combustible/highly inflammable liquid (acetone) were being transported without any safety measures and suspected to be meant for illegal export to Myanmar. In this regard, passengers of vehicles – Sakhawdika(39) s/o Engzauva of Edenthar, Aizawl and Benedict F.Bapui(39) s/o Daithang of Kolasib (College veng) were arrested. Champhai PS Case u/s 285/336/34 IPC r/w 23 Petroleum Act was registered for further investigation.
Pertinently, Acetone is included in the RED LIST of International Narcotics Control Board (INCB) as precursors and chemicals, frequently used in the illicit manufacture of narcotic drugs & psychotropic substances
