Receiving/ buying ‘suspected to be stolen properties’ is a crime and liable for punishment. On the night of 30.04.2023, unknown miscreant(s) had stolen battery (Exide) from one vehicle (TATA Ace) parked at Venglai, Kolasib. On diligent investigation and meticulous follow up, five stolen vehicle batteries were recovered from the possession of two stolen property receivers – Rakib Hasan (28) and Tinku Mia (26), both of Madhurbon, Cachar, Assam (P/A – Venglai East, Kolasib). Accused involved in the instant case Lallawmsanga (26) of Diakkawn, Kolasib was then immediately located and arrested. Further investigation and sustained interrogation revealed his involvement in recent two (2) other vehicle battery theft cases registered in Kolasib town. Further investigation is in progress to ascertain other involvements. The two stolen property receivers were also arrested and booked under 411 IPC.
We caution public to stay away from buying any kind of suspected stolen properties. Don’t fall in a trap, as it may lead you to face serious legal consequences. Inform police instead.
