Mizoram Police celebrated its 47th Raising Day at Arya Mess, PHQ, Aizawl on January 22, 2018. On January 21, 1972, the Mizo District was upgraded to a Union Territory. The erstwhile Assam Police in Mizo District was redesignated as Mizoram Police. Pu I.J. Verma IPS took charge as the first Inspector General of Police (IGP) of Mizoram on January 21, 1972. Hence, January 21, 1972 is officially celebrated as the Mizoram Police Raising Day. All Units of Mizoram Police celebrated this day in their respective headquarters and the main celebrations were held at G.S.Arya Mess, PHQ, Aizawl. Retired IPS officer and first SP of Aizawl District Pu F. Lalremsiama graced the function as Chief Guest. Many retired IPS/MPS officers who served in Mizoram Police were also present.
