In the night of 21.11.2022 @ 11:45 PM, information was received at Zonuam Outpost (Aizawl District) from reliable source regarding suspected contraband drugs being stashed away by unknown persons on the roadside along MZU road. Police party along with 2 civilian witnesses rushed to the spot. On conducting thorough search in the area after midnight, a big sack containing 22 black polythene parcels was found hidden in the bushes about 12 metres down from the road side. On checking, total 215 soap cases of heroin, weighing 2.76 Kgs, valued ₹ 13.8 Crores in international market was recovered and seized. Vaivakawn PS case u/s 21(c)/28/29 ND&PS Act has been registered and thorough investigation is in progress to trace the source and consignee(s) of the seized contraband.
