Dated: Aizawl, the 14th August, 2025 : Mizoram Police extends a big congratulations to three of our officers who are awarded with well-deserved President’s Police Medals on the occasion of Independence Day 2025 by Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) as under:- 

I. PRESIDENT’S POLICE MEDAL FOR DISTINGUISHED SERVICE: 

 PU LALRINGDIKA MPS, Commandant, 3rd Bn. MAP. 

With a career spanning nearly three decades of commitment, dedication, and devotion to duty, Pu Lalringdika has served with distinction in a wide range of assignments. During his tenure as SDPO Champhai, Pu Lalringdika investigated Champhai PS Case No. 264/04 dated 13.12.2004 u/s 302/34 r/w 25(1)A Arms Act r/w 5 of IES Act r/w 14 Foreigners Act, arising from an encounter on 11.12.2004 between 25 Assam Rifles personnel, headquartered at Khawbung, and the Chin Independent Army (CIA) led by S/S General Ngunuklian at the Tiau riverbank along the Indo–Myanmar border in Champhai District. The encounter resulted in the death of Capt. Sanjay Arya, Commander of the AR team. 

Taking up the investigation, he arrested two CIA cadres directly responsible for the incident — Lalchhanhima, s/o Tawklingthang of Saikhumphai, and Rinlian, s/o (L) Paklingthang of Ngailan, Myanmar. As a result of the arrest and subsequent investigation and interrogation led to the recovery of a substantial cache of arms and ammunition used in the attack, including AK-47 rifles – 11 nos, .303 rifle – 1 no, AK-47 magazines – 2 nos, .303 rifle magazine – 1 no, 7.62 mm ammunition – 190 rounds, .303 ammunition – 13 rounds and Chinese-made grenade – 1 no. 

While serving in the CID (SB) as Dy. SP, he successfully led several operations and achieved notable results. In 2002, he headed a team tasked with monitoring the activities of suspected arms smugglers in Aizawl and, through dedication, hard work, and sustained surveillance, recovered two AK-47 rifles and apprehended three arms smugglers.

These outstanding operations demonstrated his exceptional investigative skills, operational leadership, and unwavering commitment to upholding the law.

 

II.  POLICE MEDAL FOR MERITORIOUS SERVICE: 

1). PU STEPHEN LALRINAWMA MPS, SP CID(SB).

Spanning a distinguished career of over 20 years marked by commitment, dedication, and devotion to duty, Pu Stephen Lalrinawma has served in various assignments with exceptional distinction.

In a rare and tragic case, Lunglei PS Case No. 103/13 dated 03.09.2013, involving the brutal killing of all occupants of a house at Tawipui North-II village, Lunglei District by unknown miscreants, the case was swiftly detected under the supervision of Pu Stephen Lalrinawma, then Addl. SP Lunglei, who led the Special Investigation Team. The accused was subsequently convicted and sentenced to life imprisonment.

In another sensational case, Lunglei PS Case No. 14/2021 dated 24.01.2021, involving the abduction of a four-day-old baby from Civil Hospital, Lunglei, the case was detected under the close supervision of Pu Stephen Lalrinawma, then SP Lunglei, and the abductor was later convicted.

Similarly, in Bawngkawn PS Case No. 233/10 dated 29.05.2010, concerning the murder of a woman in the jungle of Thingsulthliah, the unknown accused was identified and later convicted under the supervision of Pu Stephen Lalrinawma, then SDPO Aizawl North. He was also one of the investigating team of one of the largest cheating cases in the history of Mizoram — a Ponzi scheme called Chiahpuam, involving the collection of hundreds of crores of rupees from thousands of depositors. Acting as SDPO Aizawl North, he submitted the charge sheet against the accused in Aizawl Police Station Case No. 419/08 dated 27.12.2008. 

His outstanding investigative leadership and unwavering commitment to justice have brought honor to Mizoram Police.

 

2). INSPR. TC ZOTHANSANGA, 3rd Battalion MAP. 

Inspector T.C. Zothansanga began his career in the Mizoram Police as a Constable and, through dedication and exemplary service, rose to his present appointment as Administration Inspector of the 3rd Battalion, MAP on 01.07.2019. In this role, he has discharged his responsibilities with efficiency, reliability, and professionalism for several years. He played a pivotal role in the construction of a 200-meter fencing along the northern boundary of the 3rd Battalion MAP complex, a measure that will safeguard the premises from possible encroachment in the future.

As Officer-in-Charge of the SDRF Unit for several years, he actively participated in numerous life-saving, rescue, search, and rehabilitation operations. Renowned for his command presence and expertise in crowd management and mob control, he has also demonstrated exceptional proficiency in police drill, overseeing both basic police training and promotion training for many years. His ceremonial leadership was showcased as Parade Commander of the Mizoram Police contingent during the Republic Day 2018 celebrations in Nagaland, the Independence Day 2018 celebrations in Tripura, and the Republic Day 2019 celebrations in Meghalaya.
