No.F.14018/1/25-PR/09 Dated: Aizawl, the 21st September, 2025 : The untiring drive against drugs and other illegal activities continues. Huge seizures of contraband items were recently made by Mizoram Police as under:

1). On 18.09.2025, Saitual Police also seized 9 Kgs of Uglobe Brand Heroin worth ₹2.7 Crores. Earlier, in Saitual PS Case No. 63/2025 dated 23.08.2025 u/s 21(c)/29/25 ND&PS Act r/w 14(A) Foreigner Act, 6 Kgs of Heroin worth ₹1.8 Crores was recovered from one vehicle (‘Intra’, blue colour, B/R No. MZ01 X 1909) driven by Lalliancheua (20) s/o Challianzula of Falam, Myanmar (P/A Zuangtui), with the vehicle owner Lallianmawia (25) s/o Challianzula of Falam, Myanmar (P/A Zuangtui, Aizawl). The contraband had been concealed inside the spare wheel of the said vehicle.

During further investigation led by ASP Pu Rokima and Pu Arun Balgotra, IPS, it came to light that the consignment contained more contraband. Accordingly, a known burglary accused was planted to talk to the main accused in the case. Based on the burglary accused’s information, it was revealed that there was a total of 15 Kgs of Heroin in the vehicle. The entire vehicle was then dismantled, leading to the recovery of an additional 9 Kgs of Heroin, taking the total seizure to 15 Kgs worth ₹4.5 Crores.

Further investigation is ongoing. Significantly, this seizure is believed to be the largest-ever seizure of heroin in the history of Mizoram Police.

2). On 19.09.2025, Champhai Police seized a large consignment of Methamphetamine (70.2 Kgs of Methamphetamine worth Rs.9.126 Crores). Following input from Zokhawthar Police regarding the movement of drugs, Champhai PS team led by SI Lalhunthara, accompanied by Pi Lalrinzuali, MPS, Dy. SP (Proby), was formed under the supervision of Vivek Kumar Maurya, IPS, SDPO Champhai.

The team identified and located the suspect, Lalnunthara (27), s/o Lalrintluanga of Dinthar Veng, Champhai, at Zotlang. The team rushed to the spot and a thorough search led to the recovery of 70.200 Kgs (656,500 tablets, 65 bundles) of Methamphetamine, packed in two nylon sacks. The estimated market value of the seized contraband is Rs. 9,12,60,000. A case vide Champhai PS Case No. 142/25 dt.19.09.2025 u/s 22(c)/29 ND&PS Act was registered.

The success of this seizure was made possible through the combined efforts of Bulfekzawl Police, Hruaikawn Police (deployed exclusively for anti-drug operations), and leaders of NGOs from Bulfekzawl and Hruaikawn. Their timely information-sharing, coordination, and active participation alongside Zokhawthar Police were instrumental in intercepting and seizing such a huge quantity of narcotics.
