Dated: Aizawl, the 20^th August, 2025 : The untiring drive against drugs and other illegal activities continues. Seizures of contraband items were recently made by Mizoram Police as under:

 1).     On 18.08.2025, a joint team of Special Narcotics Police Station under CID Crime) and 225 Battalion of the CRPF in Aizawl conducted an operation in the areas of Muallungthu and Hualngohmun villages. During the operation, the team intercepted one Mahindra Bolero (Reg. No. MZ05-6161) and on search of the vehicle, they recovered and seized 7.955 Kgs of Methamphetamine tablets, valued at approximately ₹10,341,500, hidden in two modified secret compartments—one located beneath the rear seat and another within the cargo area’s floorboard.

Two individuals - Shanti Jeeban Chakma (30) s/o Vinanda Chakma, Ulusury, Lawngtlai District, currently residing In Hunthar Veng, Aizawl and Brighu Dhan Chakma (31) s/o Rivodi Kumar, Marpara, Mamit District, currently residing in Devasora, Lunglei District were arrested in connection with this seizure. Special Narcotics PS Case No. 25/25 Dt.18.08.2025 u/s 22(c)/25/29(1) ND&PS Act, 1985 was registered for further investigation and legal action.

2).     On the night of 17.08.2025, personnel of Hnahlan Beat Post under Champhai Police detected one white EECO Van (Reg. No. MZ-01-Z-6975) parked on the roadside at the outskirts of Hnahlan Village. On approaching the vehicle, the driver fled into the nearby jungle under the cover of darkness, leaving the vehicle behind. Despite attempts, he could not be apprehended immediately.

A thorough search of the vehicle led to the recovery of 240 grams (23 soap cases) of suspected heroin, valued at approximately ₹17,20,000/-, which were ingeniously concealed inside milk-filled Crispy Wafer (Milk 4 Stix) packets in the said vehicle.

Accordingly, Champhai PS Case No. 122/25 dated 18.08.2025 under sections 21(b)/25 of the ND&PS Act was registered. A sustained follow-up operation subsequently resulted in the arrest of the accused Ahmed Ali (26) s/o Abdul Hamit of Nilam Bazar, Karimganj, Assam at Vapar Village, Champhai District. Further investigation is in progress.
