As part of observance of the upcoming ‘International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking’ or ‘World Drug Day’, an interactive session with People Who Inject Drugs (PWID) was organised today by Mizoram Police in collaboration with Mizoram State Aids Control Society (MSACS) at SP Aizawl Conference Hall.
On 23.6.2023, interactive session aimed to raise awareness about the importance of treating people who use drugs with respect and empathy, to combat stigma and discrimination against people who use drugs by promoting language and attitudes that are respectful and non-judgmental and to strengthen prevention.
Pu Lalthakima, MPS, Addl. SP, CID (Crime) presided over today’s programme. Pu Lalhuliana Fanai, IPS, DIG (CID), Dr. Lalthlengliani, Project Director, MSACS, Dr. Christina Vanlalhriatrengi, MO, OST, Civil Hospital, Aizawl spoke on various topics about understanding PWID, the importance of treatment and ways to recovery.
Pu David Lalremruata, Ramthar, Pi Vanlalruati, President, PWNM, Tv. Lalremruata, Outreach Worker, MSR and Pu Moses Zofaka Pachuau, President, MDUF shared their valuable experience about how they are recovering from drug abuse.
