Today, early morning @ 02:35AM, information was received from 2nd Bn. Assam Rifles, Aizawl stating that they had detained two vehicles at the outskirt of Kelsih village, which are suspected to transport illegal arms/explosives.
Kulikawn PS team rushed to the place and conducted search in the presence of independent witnesses at the outskirt of Kelsih village and detected :
(i) 55 boxes of Gelatin sticks (containing 200 sticks in each box), (ii) 4 boxes of safety fuse (2000 mtrs approx ) and (iii) Eight (
Nos. of unlicensed NPB arms, namely (a) 3 airguns, (b) 2 Nos. of Sporting Rifles( c) 3 Nos. of 12 gauge shot guns with 20 boxes of .177 and other accessories from one TATA Yodha owned and driven by Lalbiaktluanga (42) s/o Lalsangliana of Mualpui Bethel, Aizawl.
Nos. of unlicensed NPB arms, namely (a) 3 airguns, (b) 2 Nos. of Sporting Rifles( c) 3 Nos. of 12 gauge shot guns with 20 boxes of .177 and other accessories from one TATA Yodha owned and driven by Lalbiaktluanga (42) s/o Lalsangliana of Mualpui Bethel, Aizawl.Another (i) 65 boxes of Gelatin, 200 sticks in each boxes (ii) 4 boxes of Gun powder (25kgs approx. each) was also seized from another Bolero pickup truck owned and driven by Zoremsanga (42) s/o C.Thangkima (L) of Tlangnuam West, Aizawl.
The owners/ drivers of seized vehicles did not possess any explosive/ arms license for possessing or transporting. Further enquiry revealed two more accomplices, namely Laldinpuia (24) s/o Lalremsiama (L) of Mualpui Bethel, Aizawl and Lalruattluanga (24) s/o Lalropuia of Tlangnuam West, Aizawl. The four accused persons were arrested and a criminal case has been registered vide Kulikawn PS Case no 40/2022 dated 1.5.2022 u/s 9-B (1)(b)/ 5 Explosive Act r/w 5 Explosive Substance Act r/w 25 (1-B) (a) Arms Act.
Further investigation is in progress to unearth the entire racket.
