In the night of 17.12.2022 at around 10:30PM, one vehicle (TATA 712) coming from Zokhawthar towards Aizawl was intercepted at Chalbawiha Junction Khankawn Police Check Gate on suspicion. After careful & thorough checking, 20 Kgs of Crystal Methamphetamine, valued approx. ₹ 60 Crores in International Market, which was kept mixed with other business goods, was recovered and seized. The seized drugs were hidden/ concealed in 20 nos. of packets bearing the label of a Chinese tea brand. The driver and owner of the vehicle Sanghleithanga (39) s/o Laldingliana (L), Zemabawk was arrested and Champhai PS case u/s 22(c)/25 ND&PS Act has been registered. On further investigation and sustained interrogation, two drug traffickers/accused allegedly involved in the case – Lalthlamuana (56) s/o Kapcheuva( L), Edenthar, Aizawl and Vanlalngura (32) s/o Hmingliana, Edenthar, Aizawl were also promptly arrested by a team of Aizawl DSB (under SP Aizawl) today and Police team is being sent to bring the two arrested persons from Aizawl to Champhai.
Further investigation on forward / backward linkages is in progress.
