Seizure of illegal Arms with synergy among agencies. Acting on a specific input, yesterday a joint team of CID(SB) and 2nd Assam Rifles apprehended two persons namely: 1) Isak Pawla (31) s/o Hnehliana of Chamdur P, Lawngtlai District and 2) Rochunga (40) s/o Hamkual of Project Veng Chamdur P, Lawngtlai District at the outskirt of Hmuifang Village at 1730 hrs and seized from their joint possession; 2 nos. of .22 AK Automatic Rifles (Made in China) with 2 nos. of Magazines and 4 nos. of .22 Ammunitions, which they had transported from Bungtlang South, Lawngtlai by vehicle Bolero (Black) B/R No. MZ 05A-5990. Further interrogation revealed that two other persons namely: 1) Lianthanga (42) s/o Vanmawia(L) of Mualcheng South, Lunglei District and 2) Lalpianmawia (32) s/o Biakthanga of Melthum Bethel Veng, Aizawl acted as middlemen in an attempt to sell the illegal arms. Accordingly, they too were apprehended on the same day. In this regard, a criminal case registered at Sialsuk PS under SLK PS CNo.1/23 dated 05.02.2023 u/s 25 (1A)/25(1AA)/29 Arms Act r/w 120B IPC for further investigation. Well done.
