Striving hard to include modern #Technology in policing and taking forward the vision of SMART #Police. Yesterday on 12.5.2023, one day training on National Automated Fingerprint Identification System (NAFIS) was jointly organised by #MizoramPolice and FSL, Mizoram at FSL Conference Hall, Aizawl with National Crime Record Bereau (NCRB) Officers as Resource Persons. It was inaugurated by Pu H.Lalengmawia, IAS,Commissioner & Secretary (Home) in the presence of Pu Lalhunliana Fanai IPS, DIG (CID), Pu H.Sangchungnunga, Director/ FSL and other Senior Police/ FSL Officers. It was attended by police personnel handling NAFIS in 11 Districts of Mizoram along with interns of Forensic Science from Adamus University, Kolkata.
NAFIS, a very important and pathbreaking project of NCRB, is a centralised searchable database of crime and criminal-related fingerprints. Fingerprints of arrested criminals in certain categories of offences are collected and stored to be used for tracking. It enables law enforcement agencies to upload, trace, and retrieve data from the database in real time on a 24×7 basis. At present, around 80 lakhs Fingerprints are stored at NCRB, NAFIS. Mizoram has also entered more than 6200 fingerprints, so far. Thanks #NCRB
