Awarding Ceremony of ‘50th Anniversary Disc of Mizoram Police’ was held on 5.7.2022 at PHQ Multipurpose Hall, Aizawl. Hon’ble Home Minister Pu Lalchamliana graced the function as Chief Guest and pinned the ‘50th Anniversary Disc’ to 16 selected male and female police officers/staff representing various ranks/units of Mizoram Police. The programme was attended by officers and staff of PHQ and all SsP & above, stationed at Aizawl.
The Disc is being given to all 7622 personnel serving under Mizoram Police, in recognition of their outstanding services rendered to the Department, State and the Nation, on this special occasion of 50th Anniversary (Golden Jubilee) of Mizoram Police.
It may be mentioned that on 21st January, 1972, Mizo District under the state of Assam was elevated to the Status of a Union Territory. The erstwhile Assam Police under Mizo District was rechristened as Mizoram Police. The first Inspector General of Police (IGP) Mizoram, I.J. Verma, IPS took charge of the office of IGP on 21.01.1972. Hence 21st January, 1972 is officially adopted as the Mizoram Police Raising Day. This year 2022-23 marks the 50th anniversary (Golden Jubilee Year) of Mizoram Police.
