On 26.6.2023, in observance of the International Day against Drug Abuse & Illicit Trafficking, Champhai District Drugs Disposal Committee and Champhai Police carried out disposal of seized drugs (Pre-trial & Post –trial) by using incinerator at District Hospital, Champhai. Pu T.J Lalnuntluanga, Hon’ble Minister, Law & Judicial, etc. graced the occasion as Chief Guest. Total 12.5 Kgs of Heroin, 6.35 Kgs of Ganja, 450 tablets of Alprazolam and 20 Kgs of Crystal Meth, total valued over Rs.3.7 Crores at local market and Rs.121.7 Crores at international market were destroyed.
Twenty (20) officers of Champhai Police, three (3) units of Village Defence Party (VDP) from Khuangleng, Mualkawi and Hnahlan villages were felicitated during the function in recognition of their invaluable contributions to the detection & seizure of illegal drugs during 26th June 2022 to 26th June 2023. Top ten (10) winners (students) of ‘Anti-Drugs Slogan Writing Contest’ held on 23.6.2023 at GM HSS, Champhai were also given cash prizes during the event.
The function was attended by members of NCORD Champhai, leaders of Sub-Hqrs YMA Champhai, Students from Govt. GM Higher Secondary School, Champhai and Journalists. ‘Drug Free Pledge’ with signature campaign were also conducted during the function.
