The drug smugglers can’t keep it concealed from the prying eyes of alert police personnel. #ZokhawtharPS (Champhai District) team had successes in two instances, while conducting random checking of vehicles at the outskirt of Melbuk Village yesterday. Firstly, they recovered 55 grams (4 soap cases) of heroin, valued ₹ 27.5 lakhs in international market from one vehicle (sumo) plying from Zokhawthar to Aizawl, driven by Biaklala (30) s/o Vanlawma of Bawngkawn, Aizawl. In the second instance, another 133 grams (10 soap cases) heroin, valued ₹ 66.5 lakhs in international market was seized from another vehicle (sumo) plying from Zokhawthar to Aizawl, driven by Lalthankunga (33) s/o Tlangchhunga of Sesawng, (presently at Thuampui Aizawl). In both the cases, contraband was kept hidden inside sound woofer boxes.
